A learning platform is a crucial place where all the action happens. All lectures, quizzes, tasks, and modules get loaded on the platform. The resources you need for your assignments will also be available on the platform.

Quizzes help students get better at the theory part of their work, and you can do these repeatedly to get the most out of a module and quiz.

Yellow Tail Tech is not a self-paced boot camp, and you will have to attend classes live at a specific time two to three times a week. However, this motivates a student to keep on track and complete the courses on time.

According to an article in Business Insider in 2021, Yellow Tail Tech has a growth of 250% each year, making them quite attractive as a potential boot camp people might want to invest in.

The lecturers of each program are experienced in their teaching field, and most have a significant number of years in their chosen field. This makes a valuable contribution to the students of Yellow Tail Tech. In addition, they are great mentors and guide the students to a point where they can step into a job feeling confident and ready.

Courses & Curriculum

Yellow Tail Tech has been at it for seven years, and the success rate they have goes to show that their methods work.

The boot camps provide the option between two different programs: the “Linux for Jobs” and “AWS for Jobs” programs. Each focus on other areas you can specialize in and give you knowledge about a specific niche to go out and become a professional in the field.

Linux Operating System Statistics

Linux For Jobs Program

The first program available is the “Linux for Jobs” program. The program aims to equip you to work in any Linux setup, network, or server. The boot camp duration is 6 months, whereafter you can troubleshoot or build any Linux-based systems and machines.

During the first course, you will tackle all the basics there is to know about IT and networking. This includes the terminology of the tech world and everything you need to know to form a strong foundation. In addition, this first course will set you up for the following courses focusing on the specifics of Linux.

Here you will have a jam-packed 7 weeks of training in everything networks, including IP address setups, network cables, WANs, DNS, and how to troubleshoot these. This part of the program is why you do not require prior knowledge or education in IT or networks. Instead, this course ensures you get up to speed, and Yellow Tail Tech does it in a way to set you up with a job at the end of it.

The second course lasts 16 weeks, where the first 4 weeks focus on what Linux is about and exactly how it works. Another perk for those that want to dive into the tech world with little to no knowledge. The following 12 weeks will focus on the juicy stuff you will apply in your day job when working as a Linux network engineer.

The 10 modules of this course are jam-packed with all you need to know. You will learn how Linux works, administering the systems and networks, troubleshooting issues, managing software, storage, and many more.

RHCSA is short for “Red Hat Certified System Administrator,” one of the titles you can wear with pride when completing the program. This course with 6 modules sets you up for the real world, applying the practicalities and knowledge you will need in the workplace.

AWS For Jobs Program

The second program available at Yellow Tail Tech is the “AWS for Jobs” program. Amazon Web Services provide many tech jobs within companies, and this program offers more; thus, the duration is 9 months. After completing this program, you can write coding using AWS Lambda and AWS APIs, service and troubleshoot clouds, and do advanced services on global configurations.

Like Yellow Tail Tech’s other program, this one also has the entire first course. The 7 weeks are dedicated to the most basic knowledge regarding networking, IT, and what you have to know to continue with any further learning.

Something unique about this is that you choose which program you are interested in, and both will give you the basic training. There is no delay in doing one program before you can apply for the one your heart desires. For example, I feel a connection to the AWS for Jobs program. In that case, I can start with it immediately without even having any prerequisite knowledge.

This course name might throw you off, but the reason behind this course is quite important. The AWS systems are built off of a Linux system, which makes sense why you should know precisely how this system is put together and how it operates. This will help you shine in a job as an AWS Cloud DevOps Infrastructure Engineer.

However, this course is only 12 weeks, whereas the Linux for Job program takes 16 weeks on the same modules. This might be because the core of the AWS for Jobs program is still following.

The core of the program is course 3. This course lasts 16 weeks with 16 modules leading you to work with serverless setups and networks like the AWS systems. The first 4 weeks are dedicated to the building blocks of an AWS system and everything you need to know to have a firm foundation in AWS. The following 12 weeks will teach you to code the infrastructure and administer the system.

This preparation course helps the students to function as AWS SysOps Engineers. It is a crucial part of the program to increase students’ confidence, support them in real-life situations, and ensure they will operate successfully as coders in the field.

The 8 weeks are packed with 8 modules with a more practical side. This will make you feel like you are in the workplace already, but with a lot of backup and mentors keeping you on track and helping you succeed.

The final course of this program is necessary to code automated systems. To do this, you will first learn the basics of Python coding and programming. The second step would be to learn how to implement Python into AWS. Eight weeks of knowledge and learning are dedicated to this course.

Application Process

The application process is easy with no hassle. Yellow Tail Tech removed the standard application process, and you only need to book an intro call of ten minutes. This way, you can have an informal one-on-one call with one of the enrollment advisors and find out whether this boot camp is something you would be interested in.

After the ten-minute call, you can sign up for the 45-minute Career Strategy Session. During this call, the mentor will talk to you about the finances involved and your financing options and determine whether or not a program at Yellow Tail Tech is for you.

There are no requirements to apply for one of the boot camps at Yellow Tail Tech. Instead, they specialize in feeding the students the needed information at a slower pace than other programs to ensure they grasp the concepts. Then, they make sure that each student can apply these practically to get a job – hence the “for jobs” tagline along their program titles.

Tuition Fees

The two programs Yellow Tail Tech offers have different durations, making sense that the costs differ. Linux for Jobs costs $10,700, while AWS for Jobs costs $15,500.

They do provide payment plans and will offer different financing options during the 45-minute strategy call before you are admitted to the program. The following options are available:

You can make an upfront payment before enrolling in the bootcamp. If paying monthly while taking classes is more manageable for you than paying upfront, you can do so by month-to-month option. Yellow Tail Tech has also partnered with Climb Credit to offer loans to help you pay for your programs.
