Student Reviews

Even though numerous students have enrolled in their Linux Foundation training, the student reviews relative to the curriculum and training resources provided sound disappointing. The resources are can be easily attainable online for free. There also appear to be insufficient resources to pass the certification exam as well. After reading these reviews, I recommend anyone supplementing books and resources outside the bootcamp to study.

Background

Linux traces its origins back to the first release of the Linux Kernel on September 17, 1991, by Linus Torvalds and his team.

Fast-forward to 2000, and you have the founding of The Linux Foundation due to the merger between Open Source Development Labs and the Free Standards Group.

Linux Foundation standardizes Linux, fosters its development, and encourages commercial acceptance. Over the years, it has done just that by being a hub for collaborative open-source software projects.

Events, training, certification programs, and open-source initiatives are some ways the Linux Foundation has grown in recent years. In addition, the Linux Foundation is responsible for various projects:

For the last three decades, Linux has grown into a technological behemoth while remaining a nonprofit dedicated to democratizing technology and making it available to all people worldwide by creating a supportive online community.

Many global companies support the Linux Foundation as well. Some of them are featured below.

Recap

Pursuing a certification with the Linux Foundation is a great way to show off your skills and expertise to potential employers and coworkers.

The Linux Foundation programs are a good fit for you if you meet the following criteria:

As a beginner, sign up for Cloud Engineer Bootcamp and give yourself 6-9 months to learn as much as possible. Cloud computing is a brand-new world, so it’s okay to ask dumb questions. In addition, look for books & YouTube tutorials to supplement your learning.

Even though reviews I’ve read say instructors and training materials aren’t helpful, you should still take advantage of services (such as discussion forums, live instructor office hours, and dedicated mentors). Ask many questions as possible in the discussion forum and during live instructor office hours. Investing time and energy in this Linux Foundation could be an excellent way to jumpstart your career as a programmer.

Hope the review helps to understand if Linux Foundation is the right fit for you to continue your education.
